Sapphire Vs Royal Test Cricket 2023
Over the past two weeks, we have been continuing to play cricket in P.E. Last week, Sapphire beat Royal 190 runs to 125. However, this week, Miss Beattie’s played some world class cricket to beat Sapphire 236 to 185. We had a fantastic afternoon outside in the sun, both batting and bowling, working together and competing against each other.

Literacy
In literacy, Year 4 have started a unit of work around newspaper report writing. We have looked at local newspapers from the early 1900s to find out more about how dangerous coal mining actually was during these times. We are going to write a report on the Wearmouth Colliery mining, which killed 168 men and boys in 1909. Check back in a few weeks to see our amazing writing!
Maths
This week, Year 4 have started a unit around statistics in maths. We have been interpreting data within pictograms and bar charts, as well as creating our own charts. In the coming weeks, we are going to answer reasoning and problems solving questions and analysing line graphs.
