Exploring plants
Did you know there are around 391 thousand species of plants? We certainly didn’t! We have been studying plants in Year 1, and we can now label each part of a plant and even describe why their features are important! We have planted our own pea plant in our groups, and we can’t wait to watch them grow!
Sports Day Preparations
Who’s excited for Sports Day? The children in Year 1 definitely are! In PE this week, we spent some time preparing for sports day, participating in teams in races such as the egg and spoon race and bean bag balancing! We had a super afternoon, and it was lovely to see all of the children getting involved and cheering on their classmates. Bring on the 10th of July!
Taking it outdoors!
We are so proud of all of our children this week for their amazing efforts in the phonics screening check! We have spent some time outdoors this week in the amazing weather to reward the children (and the staff!) for their efforts.
The five oceans
This week, we have finished our Geography project on the five oceans! We explored the different oceans, and discovered the different types of animals that can be found in each ocean. We finished by making our own mini oceans! Did you know that there are over 200,000 different species in the Pacific Ocean alone?
Hendon Beach
This week, we have visited Hendon beach as part of our seaside topic. The children loved being able to identify features of the beach in person, as well as paddling!
