Easter Challenge

Literacy

In Literacy this half term, we have been writing a postcard to recount an imaginary visit to the rainforest. We began by investigating what the rainforest would be like using our senses. We tasted fruit that is typically found in the rainforest, such as mangoes and coconut and listened to rainforest sounds.

As a class, we then discussed and recorded ideas of what type of things we could do in the rainforest on our imaginary visit. We used all of our experiences to create a bank of vocabulary which we used in our final postcards.

Music

In Music, we have been performing to each other using a range of musical instruments. In a group, we practised using instruments, such as the glockenspiel, this built our confidence to help us perform accurately. We recorded our performance and then watched it back to see what aspects of our performance we could improve.

Comic Relief

On 19th March, we raised money for Comic Relief by dressing as our favourite superheroes.  We had a fun afternoon completing the Comic Relief 2021 quiz!

World book day

This month we celebrated World Book Day in Year 4 by creating our own character potato. We designed our potato character and explained our design to a partner, telling them about each aspect of the design and the materials we were going to use to create it. To complete our design, we cut and joined different materials to make our character. Our teachers also read their favourite stories whilst concealed by a mask and we had to guess who each teacher was in the Masked Reader.

Clay

As part of our Rainforest topic this term, the children had the opportunity to make their very own clay Rainforest animals, we researched what animals lived in the Rainforest and then created our chosen animal using clay.

Topic

During our topic work, the children have been researching about the Rainforest. We have been learning where the Amazon Rainforest is located, Identifying the different layers of the Rainforest and researched endangered animals living in the Rainforest.

Art

In Art, the children have been creating their very own Rainforest Dioramas. They have been using a range of different materials to create different colours and textures within their Dioramas.

Maths

This term in Maths we have focusing on Multiplication and Data handling. We have been using a range of different strategies to work out simple one and two step multiplication problems.

This week we have been focusing on data handling, we have been interpreting and presenting data and answer a range of simple questions.

Snow

We had great fun in the snow, playing and building a snowman called Olaf. The children collected snow and made snowballs that would create a body and a head for our snowman. They then collect sticks and stones for his arms and buttons and then finally made a nose using a carrot.

Computing

During our Safer Internet Day, the children watched a live lesson at 11am. The lesson was really interesting and was very interactive as the children had to complete a work pack during the lesson and also take part in a ‘super movers’ dance routine. During the afternoon, we then created our very own online safety posters, completed a range of activities and created some work using purple mash.

Home Learning

Take a look at some of the fantastic craft pictures and structures the children have been making at home using their craft pack from school.
