This is Me

As part of our ‘This Is Me’ topic, we have been focusing on ourselves.

During our lessons, we have been working in small groups on topics that we are interested in. We planned and researched our topics to create our very own presentations.

Pen Licence

We are very proud of the children in Year 4 who have already gained their Pen Licence this term. They have shown an increase in the legibility, consistency and quality of their handwriting over the last few weeks.

Literacy

In Literacy this term, our class novel has been ‘Escape to Pompeii’ throughout the term we have been focusing on a range of different SPaG features.

We have been looking at powerful verbs and identifying them within the text, we have also been identify appropriate adjectives we could use in our diary entries.

As part of our Literacy lesson, we sorted and ordered the story of ‘Escape to Pompeii’. We looked at the different pictures and identified key features that would help us order the story. We looked at the faces, the time of day and what was happening in each the picture.

We had the opportunity to create our very own freeze frames from the story ‘Escape to Pompeii’.  We acted out each scene, trying to understand what it would feel like being in Pompeii during this devastating disaster.

We then generated our own questions:

Why might they be escaping? How would it feel leaving your family behind? Who will look after Tranio and Liv? How will they survive?

Art

As part of our ‘This is Me’ topic we created our very own friendship mole, from the story The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse.

During the lesson, we discussed why we need friends, why having positive friendships is very important and discussed why sometimes we might also feel lonely. As a group, we came up with ideas of things we can do when we feel lonely and shared who we can talk to.

P.E

In P.E this term, we have been learning about how it is important for us to be healthy and keep active. Our focus this term, has been to learn a range of basketball skills. During each session, we have been focusing on improving our passing, dribbling and shooting.
