In science we have been learning about the structure of the Earth.

Focussing on the Earth’s crust, we learnt about the layers of soil.

Then, we created our own soil profile to show the different layers: bedrock, subsoil, topsoil and humus.

We also learnt about what processes can happen to soil.
Additions: things that are added to the soil.

Losses: things that are lost from the soil.

Translocations: things that move the soil.

Transformations: things that change into something else.

Church Visit

In RE, we have been learning about Christianity.

To help with our learning, we went to visit St Ignatius church.

Father Andrew gave us a guided tour of the church. He showed us the important part of a church that are used in ceremonies. He told us about the bible, candles and crosses that can be found in every church and their symbolism for Christians.

Also, the children had some very important questions about the Christian religion and Father Andrew’s beliefs.

World Book Day

We celebrated World Book Day in style!

Most of us dressed up as our favourite book characters and came into school.

We were a little excited as we came in and this lasted throughout the day.

In the afternoon, we made potatoes into book characters for a competition.

It was a really great day!
