Phonics Friday
What a way to celebrate the end of the Summer 1 half term, with a Phonics Friday! We love sharing our phonics learning with our grown ups!
DT
Our DT topic this half term is ‘Seaside Snacks’, so we became food critics for the afternoon! We sampled a variety of foods from different food groups, to see which foods we would like to include in our very own seaside sandwich. We were very brave and even tried some foods that we did not like!
In Year 1, the children take part in pedestrian training with Elizabeth from Sunderland City Council. Our first session began this week with an introduction to the Green Cross Code. Next week, the children will apply their knowledge by practicing the Green Cross Code outside in our local area. What a fabulous opportunity for our Year 1 children!
We have been counting to 100 in Year 1 this week, and we took the chance to work practically. We used our base ten to represent numbers to 100! We are so proud of how confident the children are becoming in maths!
