Valley Road Academy

Valley Road is going through the process of converting to an academy and will form a

Multi Academy Trust during the autumn term of 2017.

Valley Road Community Primary School is a 350 place school plus a 60 place Nursery in Hendon, Sunderland.

At the heart of our school are our children and families. Every decision we make in and around school is to achieve Success for All - our school motto. We believe that all our children have a right to the very best every day. If you pay us a visit you will see for yourself.

Inside our school we have a sports hall and studio, a new library, shared learning and training spaces , a community kitchen as well as well equipped, smart classrooms.  Our site is safe and secure with traditional playgrounds along with large grassed areas, including a full size football pitch, an adventure playground, a nature garden and an outdoor stage.

We are situated next to the Raich Carter Sports Centre, which provides us with access to weekly swimming sessions and use of the all weather football pitches.

A breakfast club (for children from Reception – Y6) is available free of charge each day from 8am with a selection of meals and activities available.

There are a wide variety of activities that you can participate in before, during and after school. You can play tennis, enjoy gymnastics, play football, improve your netball skills, sing and dance, build with lego, improve your numeracy skills, read on our  kindles…... the list goes on and on. Please see our After School Clubs link for more information.

The School holds a SILVER  award for Healthy Schools. Our school lunches are made onsite by our own cooks. They are very popular, nutritious and delicious. Our menus are always being updated and we try and vary our offer on a termly basis.

We are a Sweet free zone - working towards the happy healthy teeth award.

We all work very hard at Valley Road Community Primary. We reward good attendance and punctuality as well as good behaviour. You can earn a bronze, silver and gold badge throughout the year working towards a special diamond award at the end of the year.

Our lessons are interesting and challenging - we have a lot of visits and visitors so that learning is always interesting and relevant. We all work very hard every day and love our school.
