  1. Early Years

About Early Years

At Valley Road Academy, within the Early Years  we have 60 nursery places and 60 Reception places. The nursery children are in a separate unit with the Reception children working across two classrooms in school. This ensures that all children's needs are met within a calm and nurturing environment. From when your child is born up until the age of 5, their early years’ experience should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and support their development, care and learning needs.

Aims

The central aim of our Early Years provision is to develop high levels of emotional, social and physical well-being in all children. The school celebrates the diversity of our community, carefully considering and respecting the variety of cultures, backgrounds, individual needs and gender. All children are given opportunities to access learning taking into account their individual stage of development. We  work closely with both Pre-School and Key Stage One to make transitions happy and positive experiences.

Home -School Partnership

We also believe that a strong home-school partnership is essential in order to develop each child’s potential. Parents/Carers are the first and most important educators of their children. We aim to develop positive relationships with families, taking into account their needs as we support each child in their first steps beyond the home.
