Spring 2020

Art

As part of our topic work, we have been learning about the work of Monet and the impressionist movement. We looked at light and reflection and how this was shown in his artwork. Next, we made a sketchbook exploring how to use oil pastels and how to blend colour sets together to create water and light effects. Then, we took pictures of our pond from different angles and looked at where the light and reflection was. Finally we created our own artwork of our school pond in the style of Monet.

Computing

In computing, we have been learning about programming, solving coding problems and debugging code to allow programmes to function correctly. We will use this knowledge to create a programme of our own.

National Story Telling Week

During National Story Telling Week, we visited the library at the Winter Gardens. We listened to a story and created suggestions on what could happen next, this formed the ending for the story. Then, we had the opportunity to look around the library and explore what books were available.

PE

In PE, we have been doing gymnastics. We have developed our skills using different equipment each week. Lots of us have overcome some of our fears and are trying more challenging moves and techniques.

Safer Internet Day

For Safer Internet Day, we read a story called Once Upon A Time Online. We looked at how the characters used the internet, discussed their choices and how they could be safer online. Then, we each took on the role of an employer and looked at six different characters online presence. We gave a score for their online username, behaviour and respect for others. From this we could decide which person we would employ for a job. This lead to discussions about our online footprint and how to be safe and respectable online.
