Summer 2021 - Gallery and Work
In Art, We have been looking at paintings by Henri Rousseau. We practiced sketching some of his drawings. We looked closely at the plants and animals in his pictures and then practiced drawing them too. After that, we created our own painting by using the printing method based on his paintings.
We took part in a Beamish workshop all about the British History of coal mining. This workshop was via a virtual zoom call with Beamish Museum. We learnt lots of information about the life of a coal miner during the Victorian period.
In Year 4, we have been creating and making many different crafts on an afternoon. We made clay animals, created Rainforest dioramas and made our very own bookmarks using the cross-stitch method in sewing.
Library and Reading
We love to read in year 4! This term we have been given our very own reading buddy to read with. Reading with a partner helps our confidence and we have really enjoyed this. In addition to this, when it was our slot to visit the school library, we went along and chose some books to read for pleasure and enjoyment.
In Literacy, We have been writing our very own on-chronological report about coal mining. We looked at the key features of different styles of the reports and then wrote our own.
On Friday 7th May, we took part in celebrating Number day by dressing up to represent different numbers. We took part in lots of different number games and activities throughout the day. These included a number puzzle hunt by solving problems and a number quiz.
In PE, we took part in a Dodgeball festival. We learnt how to throw, catch and defend a ball. We also practiced team skills by learning how to play the game correctly as a team.
In Year 4, we have a range of after-school clubs. These include handwriting, craft and football club. We really enjoy attending these every week. Take a look at some of us in these clubs below.
