Spring 2020

Science

This term in Science, we have been identifying and describing different sources of sound in and around school. We have been investigating how sources of sound vibrate, creating sound.

Elle-May- “I really enjoyed playing the different instruments and hearing what sounds they made.”

Stephen- “I really enjoyed playing the triangle, it vibrated when I hit it.”

Learning from Home

This term we have had some fantastic learning from home. Look at some of the model creation some of the children have made.

Kyle- “I really enjoy building using Lego, I made a dragon on my own.”

Annalea- “I made a Rainforest at home using a wood, felt and paint. It was a lot of fun.”

Judo

Last week, Year 4 took part in a Judo taster session. As part of the session, the children had the opportunity to learn how to safely carry out a range of Judo moves on their partner. The children had great fun throughout the session.

Emma- “I really enjoyed learning Judo moves and being able to throw my partner onto the floor safely.”

Jay- “It was so much fun doing Judo and learning what Judo is.”

Art - Drawing

As part of our Art lesson, before sketching our own animals from the Rainforest we practised drawing different textures using different types of art pencils.

Angel- “I really liked drawing with the thick HB pencil it felt really soft on the sketch paper.”

Jay- “I liked using the art pencils as they left different textures on the paper depending on how hard I pressed.”

Art - Paper Mache

As part of our whole school Art project, this term we are creating our own sculptures liked to our Rainforest topic. We decided as a class to make our sculptures out of paper mache. It was a lot of fun starting to create the different elements of the sculpture in small groups.

Emma- “It was really cold putting my hands into the mixture to be able to create my tree sculpture.”

Fanta- “It was really hard creating the different layers of the Rainforest but it was fun doing it with my friends.”
