Change for  life Active 30
Azul class went to Silksworth Tennis Centre to take part in a variety of sports to launch Sunderland's Everyone Active Change For Life programme. We enjoyed doing lots of different sports: boxing, archery, dance, yoga and much more.
Harvest
In school we have been learning about Harvest. We visited the farm, but back in school we talked about the crops that farmers grow. We tried a variety of vegetables that are harvested at this time of year: carrots, swede, aubergine, cauliflower, broccoli and butternut squash.
History
We have been learning about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. We sorted pictures into each "Age". We had to think carefully about the materials used, the construction of it and if it had been improved.
Roald Dahl Day
For Roald Dahl Day, we read the book ESIO TROT.
Then, we made tortoises out of lollypop sticks and wool using a weaving technique.
Alfie from the story cam to visit us and will be coming home with a child each weekend to have some adventures.
Summer Reading Challenge
Sophie took part in the reading challenge over the Summer. She was the only person in Azul class!
She brought her certificate in to school to show us! We are very proud Sophie!
Year 3 Club
In year 3 club we worked as a team to make crispy cakes to sell at our Macmillan Coffee Morning.
We weighed out ingredients, melted the butter, sugar and treacle, then mixed in the cornflakes.
We then made sure each bun case had the right amount of crispy deliciousness in it.
Mmmmm.... They were delicious!

Travelling by Tuba

Year 3 took part in workshops run by Travelling by Tuba. They had great fun learning about different musical instruments and the noises they can make.

Each child had the opportunity to play an instrument and accompany a piece of music.

We had a great time.

Broom House Farm

The Sir Tom Cowie Foundation has funded trips for Year 3 children to visit the farm and learn all about farm life.

We went on our first visit of the year. While there we got to meet some of the animals, and learnt  special facts about them.

Not only did we meet the animals, we went to explore different crops and plants that Farmer Mark crows on his farm.

In the afternoon, we also went on an adventure trail in the woods.

We had a great time and cannot wait until our next visit when hopefully there will be some lambs.
