Retelling Familiar Stories
In Year 1 our topic is Traditional Tales, we read the story ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. After we had read the story, we retold the story in the small world area and created our own story maps, we talked about what happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story.
Making Porridge for Goldilocks
We sequenced pictures from ‘Goldilocks and the Three bears’. We then read the recipe to make porridge and we added our own delicious toppings. We were very good at weighing and measuring the correct amount of ingredients and we mixed them together independently. The porridge was delicious!
Working Out ‘One More Than’ and ‘One Less Than’
In maths we have been working out ‘one more than’ and ‘one less than’ numbers to 10, using counters to help us work out the answer. We worked out the answers practically and then wrote the problems into our maths books.
In Year 1 we have been practising using a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence and a full stop at the end. We used word cards to compose sentences practically and then we had a go at writing the sentence independently, using finger spaces consistently.
