Our International Family

Our world, my world. Nuestro mundo, mi mundo´.

Pupils across the school have been taking part in the international eTwinning project ´our world, my world´ to promote environmental issues, strength international links, develop acquisition of languages, share good practice and promote democracy.

It has been a fantastic experience and as a result of our hard work, Valley Road Academy has been awarded with a national quality label.

Partner schools have been introduced each other and located schools through digital platforms such as ´twinsapace, padlet and zeemaps´.

63 schools from Albania, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romani, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and United Kingdom.

Pupils created a logo to reflect on environmental issues. They made a list of words and ideas about how to take care of the environment.

´The reason why we chose words such as respect, safe, sensible and recycle is because people are throwing rubbish away and it's killing animals. We need to respect the Earth.´- By Indiee-Leigh

Students among partner schools commented on each other’s designs and voted logos using the digital platform ´dotstorming´ and a voting box we made with recycling materials.

At Valley Road Academy, we also took this opportunity to reinforce language acquisition and learn some vocabulary in Turkish related to the importance of taking care of animals and environment.

Our students shared worksheets and presentations with partner school in Turkey and the rest of schools.

Pupils in Silifke (Turkey) made a video to teach us some animals and we learned them both in Turkish and Spanish.

´We loved learning about some words in Turkish.´ -  By Ayyub

Both schools used the vocabulary to make a classroom display about the importance of taking care of the environment and animals.

Pupils in Turkey also sent us an incomplete picture about animals, plants, and water.

We finished the missing half and send it back to our new friends along with some cards to thank them both in Spanish and English.

To celebrate such as a successful project, all partner schools have made displays and collaborative e-book with some of the ideas and pictures exchanged.

´I really enjoyed making the book and sharing it with our friends´- By Arfath
