Easter Poem

We loved performing our Easter poem for our friends and teachers today. We worked very hard rehearsing our lines and took them home to practise with our families. Happy Easter everyone!

Attendance Awards

Well done to the children who received an award for over 96% attendance or 100% punctuality.

Easter Craft

We had a lovely time with our families completing a range of Easter themed craft activities. We decorated a hard-boiled egg, made an Easter card and decorated chicks and bunnies. We loved showing our families the jobs we like to do in school. Thank you to all of the families that attended, we hope you have a lovely Easter break!

Fire pit

As part of our Easter topic we have been reading the Easter story and learning about Easter traditions for example eating hot cross buns. To follow on from this, we went to the fire pit and toasted hot cross buns. The children were very good at remembering all of the safety rules when using the fire pit. Emily said “Don’t sit too near as the smoke will get in your eyes and it will hurt!” Jensen said “Hot! Hot! Hot!” and ushered us to stand well back. After we had toasted our hot cross buns we put some butter on them and ate them- they were delicious!!

Red Nose Day 2019

For Red Nose Day we have been taking part in various themed activities. We designed our own red noses and then attached string so that we could wear them. We designed our own Red Nose Day pizzas and then we had a go at making our pizzas, following our design. We will sell our pizzas for £1 on Friday 15th March to raise money towards Red Nose Day.

Jesmond Dene

We had a fantastic time on our visit to Jesmond Dene! We were so excited to travel there on the school minibus, whilst we were on the bus we enjoyed talking about where we live and what we could see as we travelled through places we have never been before. When we arrived at Jesmond Dene we explored the forest, we looked for animals that lived in the forest and identified different plants and flowers. Then we went to see the animals, we were able to identify some animals from the stories we have been reading in school and we learned about some new animals too! At the end of the day we sat talking about what we enjoyed doing on our visit and we had a hot chocolate to warm ourselves up!

World Book Day

For World Book Day we brought our favourite stories from home into school. We enjoyed talking about the stories with our friends and we discussed our favourite parts of the story. Throughout the day we enjoyed reading stories independently and shared some stories with our friends in the reading area.

National Storytelling Week

As part of National Storytelling Week we brought in our favourite stories from home and shared them with our friends in class. When then drew a picture from the story and using the sounds we have been learning in phonics we had a go at writing about the story or our favourite character.

We enjoyed working together to play The Gingerbread Man game, naming the characters, acting out and retelling our favourite parts of the story.

In the creative area we painted pictures of characters from the story. We used the correct colours and talked about why we liked that particular character.

Winter Maths

This term in maths we have continued to work on ordering and recognising numbers to 10. We have been ordering numbers to 10 independently and then we counted out the correct amount of objects to match each number. Our teachers have been challenging us by asking us what is ‘one more than’ a number and what is ‘one less than’ a number.

We have also had a go at adding two groups of objects together, we counted how many buttons were on each snowman and then we counted how many buttons there were all together.

PE

This week in PE we have been working together as a team to complete a range of different games. We had an egg and spoon race, bat the beanbag, throwing and catching a beanbag and hopping through the hoops. It was great fun working together to see which team could complete the activity in the quickest time.

It's Snowing !!

Today we had great fun in the snow! We were so excited to get our coats on and explore. We made snow angels, explored the ice and made a mini snowman!

We have been reading the story Frozen in school this week and we said “I think Elsa has made it snow today with her magical ice powers!” We pretended we were some of the characters from Frozen and we had a go at acting out different parts of the story.
