PE- Gymnastics

This term in PE we are developing our gymnastics skills. This week we have been perfecting a range of different jumps that we have been learning over the last few weeks. We have been developing our bunny hop by jumping over the bench, we have practised our skipping skills using the skipping ropes and we practised our straight jump by jumping over the hurdles. At the end of the term we will put all of the skills we have been learning together to create a mini gymnastics routine.

World Book Day

For World Book Day we dressed up as our favourite story characters and took part in a range of World Book Day themed activities. Using our phonics skills, we wrote a sentence about our favourite story book and drew a picture to match. We enjoyed being creative, making our own character masks. We carefully drew our mask, cut it out and then decorated it to match the character. Some of us had a go at decorating potatoes to make them into different story characters, using a range of different materials. There was a competition for the best, most creative potato in assembly- well done to Ella who won and the runners up Reggie and Nicholas!

Pancake day

On Shrove Tuesday, otherwise known as Pancake Day, we made our own delicious pancakes and we talked about why pancake day is celebrated. We are becoming more independent when weighing and mixing ingredients together and we only require a small amount of support from an adult to weigh the exact amounts. We then mixed the ingredients together and we talked about how the ingredients changed as we mixed them, especially the eggs. Jayden said “the eggs were orange and white but now they’ve all mixed in together”.

Next, with support from an adult we poured some of the mixture into a pan. We watched as the mixture started to cook. When our pancakes were cooked we chose what toppings we wanted on our pancakes. The blueberries were the most popular topping! It was then time to eat our pancakes and they got the thumbs up from us- they were so yummy!
