This half term our topic is The Seaside. Please take a look at our topic web below:

Outdoor Week 2018

his year the theme for Outdoor Week was Tall Ships, pupils in Year one spent the week carrying out in teams a range of survival activities such as: designing and creating their very own sail, den building in and around the school grounds, creating their very own ships from straws and designed Maritime medals.

Literacy

Orienteering

We did orienteering! We solved clues about the Tall Ships to help us complete the trail.

Maths

We had 20p to make boats. We picked our materials and worked out how much it would cost to make. Come and have a look at some of our brilliant boats.

Useful information for this half term:

Special Jobs

This week Year One have been doing some special reading jobs. We were all fantastic!

Money

We have really enjoyed using our role-play area. We have been identifying different coins and what coins we need to buy things from our fish and chip shop and ice cream parlour.

As part of our seaside topic, Year One have been making lighthouses this week.

Seaham Beach

We had a fantastic time at the beach this week. We had fun playing in the sea, making sandcastles, finding objects, creating artwork in the sand, playing games and eating ice lollies!

We can't wait to write about our day in our postcards home and write instructions of how to make our amazing sandcastles.

Roja's visit to the seaside

Scarlet's visit to the seaside

Eid

We had lots of fun celebrating Eid. We danced to Bollywood music, designed henna patterns, made Eid cards and lanterns. It was a great day!

Police Visit

This week the police came into school. They talked to us about keeping safe over the holidays. We asked them lots of questions.

Attendance

Well done to all the children in Year One who had over 95% and 100% attendance this term.
