Autumn 2016

In Rainbow Room our topic for Autumn 2016 is Magical Journeys, this can be viewed below:

As part of our autumn topic – Magical Journeys – Rainbow Room were lucky enough to visit Northern Stage in Newcastle and watch a production of James and the Giant Peach. We had a brilliant day and the children were so well behaved. We sat in the second row so were close up to all of the action. Characters were coming from all around us and even came out from above our heads! We had the chance to be part of the show and designed shark fin headbands – we decorated ours in different colour blues, so they shimmered in the light. We looked fantastic and enjoyed pretending to be the sharks eating the giant peach. The whole play was so interactive and the children even had the opportunity to help move the giant peach around the entire theatre! It was a day I am sure the children won’t forget in a hurry.

Sportability

On Thursday 3rd November the children from the Rainbow Room were invited to attend a sports event at Sunderland Tennis Centre. At the event the children were able to try different activities including football, gymnastics, athletics and tennis. The children really enjoyed the morning trying out new things. The event was ran by Farringdon Community Academy and had support from the Tennis Centre, AAA Sports and the Foundation of Light.

Making Peaches

Rainbow Room have been reading James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. We are enjoying listening to the journey he is going on. To link with this theme we decided to make peach muffins. We had great fun following and writing our own instructions on how to make them. We also sold them at break times last week and they were a big hit!
