This term (Summer 16) our work will be based on Home Sweet Home: Animals and Habitats
As part of our animals topic Rainbow Room made wormeries and had a worm catching competition. We used empty pop bottles to make the wormeries and looked under stones, plant pots and tree stumps to find lots of worms. We kept them for a few days and then released them into our planters to help the plants grow.
Rainbow Room children helped Friends of Backhouse Park to plant Bluebells as part of a nation wild project. Mary from the project explained to the children why we were plating Bluebells, how we had to plant them and that next year we would be able to see our Bluebells growing in the park.
The children were very excited about planting the bulbs. We also went on a nature walk, looking at the signs of spring. We spotted lots of Horse Chestnut, Beech, Sycamore and Silver Birch trees.
