Valley Road Academy

Derwent Hill 2018

Day 1

We have arrived safely to Derwent Hill. The weather has been so fantastic that we went straight down to the lake to cool down. Some of us jumped into the lake, some of us floated down the stream and the rest of us explored the grounds. We have spent the evening sorting out our rooms, making new friends and making sure teddy was tucked in bed.

Hi to everyone back at Valley Road and home.

Day 2

We have had a splendid breakfast!

Today has been another action packed day! Most of us have been gorge walking where we scrambled down a gill and jumped into pools. One group continued the water theme this afternoon and went kayaking, others went orienteering and the last group went rock climbing and on the DEATH SWING!

Tonight we went on a walk up Latrigg mountain. We can’t wait for our adventures tomorrow!

Day 3

What a scorching day. 28 degrees with little breeze. However, we have had a blast again! After a hearty homemade breakfast, (and sun cream application) we headed out on our days adventures. A mountain climb for some of us, with some refreshing pool stops for swimming. Canoeing for others with dips in the lake to cool down! Then gorge walking and the death swing! All of us have  had a dip at some point to cool off from the temperature. Hope the weather in Sunderland is just as good!

Day 4

Today was another wet day for us all. Swimming costumes and buoyancy aids on, we went to explore the lakes and valleys. Some of us went on a little walk to a pool where we jumped in, another group walked and abseiled down to a lake for swimming and our last group went to the lake where we jumped of the jetty.

Tonight we walked to Keswick and played in the park. We are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.
